Sunday 30th April
Exercise: 24.2km Run - Dandy Creek Trail
Even though Gav said the distance was 24.1km, when I uploded it into SportTracks it told me we'd run 24.27. Having problems uploading to Motionbased so I'm not sure what they say.
At least it didn't rain...well a few drops but that was all. I have to admit that I didn't have a good run today. My glutes started to tense up and my right knee had a bit of a twinge, so the going was slow and very uncomfortable for me.
Great to catch up with TigerBoy, Emma, Beki, Michelle (of course) and Stormbikes. And a few other stragglers joined us along the way, including Rogo and Diane. We even saw one of Michelle's friends along the track....very social morning!
I had a lovely soak in the tub when I got home, which felt great. I poured some Epsom Salts into it and just soaked for a while....can't remember the last time I had a bath! My knee still feels a bit sore so I may rub some Nurofen Gel into it to see if I can make it feel better!
I'm giving TB my dry cleaning bill for my running pants. He decided to do one of those kiddie things and jumped right into the middle of a puddle just as he'd got next to me....thanks TB for the cool down!!! His excuse is that Beki pushed him - HA!
Weight is now down another 400gm, so all up I've lost 1.8kg....still shaking my head over it all!
Saturday 29th April
I got on the scales this morning and in just 24 hours I've lost 1.4kg!!
Very hard to believe, but that's what they said. My stomach definitely feels flatter.
Haven't really had any urge to pig out today, having had 2 cups of coffee and a protein shake this morning, although I did eat 3 small pieces of bacon at lunch time, and I've now carb loaded for my long run tomorrow. Had a bowl of pasta bolognese along with a toasted Herb Foccacia Roll, followed by a Magnum Ice Cream....think the Ice Cream might have been a bit OTT and the scales will probably show this tomorrow, but as I'm running about 25km, I thought that I'd be able to burn it all off!!
Alana's Quote: "Aagghhh, you're going to have another baby!" - said whilst watching me and hubby having a smooch!!
Friday 28th April
Having nobody to run with this morning I decided not to run at all. I'm not very good at motivating myself to get out of bed when I'm not meeting up with anybody, especially when it's not very warm outside at 5.30am and the bed is!!
I'm doing a partial liquid diet today. It seems to be working quite well, so far.
Breakfast: Protein Shake
Morning Tea: Grapes, Coffee
Lunch: Wendys Iced Coffee Chilla (substitute Ice Cream for Low Fat Frozen Yoghurt)
Afternoon Tea: Mandarin
Have also been sipping on water during the day.
I still have another protein shake in my lunch box and some low fat cream cheese with sweet chilli sauce, which I haven't got around to eating yet due to my not really being very hungry. One thing I have noticed though is that I have walked a groove into the carpet from my office to the ladies toilets!!
Did everyone watch The Biggest Loser last night? I got nice and comfy on the couch, and then proceeded to fall asleep after Artie came out, so missed all the weigh ins, apart from Kristy and Adro, which is when I woke up, so at least I know who won it!!
Unfortunately Alana has turned into a reality TV junkie - she loves Big Brother and already knows everything that is happening in the house!!
Alana's Quote: "It really bothers me having to shower!"
Thursday 27th April
Exercise: 9.6km Run - Mullum Mullum Creek Trail
Another run this morning along the trail. I'm going to be able to run it with my eyes closed soon. Good time this morning. Beki is really picking up the pace now and I'm actually pushing myself that bit harder to keep up!! And I know that Beki is doing really well because I couldn't get a word in edgeways this morning - lol!!
I read today that the guy who won The Biggest Loser in the U.S is engaged to Suzy, who was also on the show. I think that's really sweet. She looks absolutely amazing now....maybe even a bit too thin!! Looks like he may have put a bit of weight back on!
Am looking forward to an evening in front of the TV tonight....nothing like a huge hit of Reality TV. Big Brother followed by the finale of The Biggest Loser. Go Kristy!!
Alana's Quote: "Mum can I please start wearing one of those things" (pointing at my bra!!).
Wednesday 26th April
Exercise: 7km Run - Mullum Mullum Creek Trail
Just did the 7km this morning as my legs are a bit heavy from yesterday's run. And my knees are killing me where I fell over at Netball. Nice bruises appearing though!! People are going to wonder what I was doing on my knees to get the bruises!!
On a totally different subject I've found a fantastic website that sells perfumes at unbelievably low prices.
Called StrawberryNet. I just bought a 100ml bottle of D&G Feminine for $62.00. That's Australian Dollars. The cheapest I've seen it anywhere is $89.00, so I couldn't believe it when I saw how cheap it was. Also got a free Lancaster Lipstick to go with it. Got the parcel delivered today and it is the real McCoy too. It got sent from Hong Kong and took about 5 days to get here. They also sell lots of other stuff. Go check it out if you haven't already done so!!
Tuesday 25th April
Exercise: 11.5km Run - Belgrave/Menzies Creek.
Couldn't decide if I wanted to run with the group this morning as I have a huge list of things that need doing, and today would have been the perfect opportunity to cross some of them off.
I'd actually already told Beki that I wasn't going to run, but somehow I ended up changing my mind (must have been the thought of a nice cooked breakfast afterwards!!).
There was a great turnout this morning. Probably about 20 people including some from CR and some Ausrunners. And the sun was shining...didn't have high hopes when I left home though as it was cold and very foggy, but once I was past Boronia, the fog was all gone!
We ran along part of the course for the Great Train Race, which I'm doing with Beki on the 7th May, so it was good to get a feel for the terrain (which is mostly bloody hills!!).
Once all the running was out of the way, most of us headed over to a lovely Tea House in Sassafras for a well earned breakfast. As usual I totally embarassed myself by thinking that somebody was trying to take a chair from our table, and refused to let him have it, when it was one of the people who had run with us and wanted to sit at the table (Sorry Plodder!!).
I had Gav on this morning and unfortuantely he did keep dropping the GPS signal, but I reckon the run was between 11 and 11.5km, maybe a little bit more. Good run, enjoyed most of it (apart from the BIG hills where I had to walk!).
Alana's Quote: "I don't think you should be on the computer, you should be working" (putting my "TO DO" list in front of me!).
Monday 24th April
Exercise: Netball Game
We won, we won....okay the other team only had 6 players...but we still won!!
My foot hurts in exactly the same place that it did the last time I played, so I think it's got something to do with the trainers that I'm wearing (Brooks Vapor). I'll try another pair next week and see if it makes any difference. It's great that I've got more than one pair in the cupboard to choose from!!
Had a bit of a fall tonight. Tripped over my opponent's foot and went sprawling to the ground (not very ladylike!!). I'm going to have a nice bruise on each knee tomorrow.
My 7 year old daughter comes out with some classic little quips sometimes, so I thought I'd start adding them to the bottom of my posts if I can remember them (must write them down when she says them!!).
Quote: "Mummy, can you put your earrings back in 'cos u look better with them in!"
Saturday 22nd April
Exercise: 22.5km Run - Dandy Creek Trail
Winter is approaching fast - I can really feel a chill in the air now. I'm seriously thinking about getting some compression tights to wear under my 3/4 pants.
Met up with Michelle bright and early (8am) and we were greeted with a dry morning (yay!!). See, it doesn't always rain when I run. Had alot to catch up on, so the first 11km went by in a blur.
Did I tell you that I'd found some chocolate flavoured gels?? Tried one this morning and I'll be going back to buy more!! They are just divine. So easy to get down!! Thankyou chocolate gods!!
Got back to the car park with energy to spare! Just the legs letting me down a little. Hopefully wearing the compression tights will take away some of the pain....oh goody, more shopping!!
Off to Michelle's party tonight - it's going to be a good evening!!
Friday 21st April
Exercise: 7km Run - Mullum Mullum Creek Trail
Got a good night's sleep in, so felt quite awake this morning when I got out of bed. Great to catch up with Michelle, who I haven't seen for over a week...have missed her loads! We had so much to catch up on that we were yakking and yakking the whole way.
Decided that 7km was enough this morning as we're going to do our long run tomorrow morning instead of Sunday as it's Michelle's 40th party tomorrow night, and there's no way I'll be in any shape to do anything apart from sip my hangover chocolate milk on Sunday!!
My trainers have now clocked up over 600km's so I'm going to grab one of my new pairs and start wearing those in shortly. Just can't decide if I'm going to use the Hurricane 6's or 7's....decisions, decisions!!
Groundbreaking day yesterday.....NO CHOCOLATE!!!
Thursday 20th April
Exercise: 9.6km Run - Mullum Mullum Creek Trail
Met up with Beki this morning for a chilly run along the trail. I even had to put my gloves on for a little while as my fingers were really cold....didn't last long though - warmed up really quickly.
It was a struggle to get out of bed this morning due to a very late night, being woken up a couple of times by my daughter because of the wind and rain, and just generally not being able to get comfortable in bed. If I wasn't meeting Beki I would have not gone running (strange that Beki had the same type of morning!!). Anyway I'm glad that I went as it was a great run. We did a really good time, even taking into account Beki's heavy legs and my general tiredness. Well done to us I say!!
I got on the scales this morning. Now, taking into account that I haven't done any exercise since Monday, apart from a quick weight session on Tuesday and my food intake has been pretty average, if not bordering on not very good, I have lost 1kg since Monday morning!! How can this happen?? Why has this happened?? What makes it happen?? I'm confused!! But I'm also very happy!!
Tuesday 18th April
Exercise: Weights (Back)
Whilst lying in bed last night I realised that every time I moved my legs hurt, so I made the decision not to run this morning. Wise choice. Getting out of bed was very painful and the legs are definitely feeling it today.
But I did get to the gym for a weight workout.
I was supposed to start the Simplicity diet today, but unfortunately didn't know what I was supposed to be eating as Beki had the information and I didn't get to see her this morning.
So I just ate what I thought was good for me.
Litebix for breakfast (is 4 too many?)
Grapes
Breakfast Bar (Sesame & Almond)
Thai Chicken Salad
Aero Choc Mousse (98% fat free)
Jarrah Chocolatte drink (needed a late chocolate fix)
Chicken Lasagne & Salad
Oh yeah, there was just a small blip.....there were a few chips left in a bag that hubby had left for me. They're gone now!
Beki's going to drop the info over tonight so at least tomorrow I'll know what the plan is!!
Monday 17th April
Exercise: 26.45km Run (My place to MMCT & back)
So glad I got out there today and did my long run. I felt so guilty about not meeting up with the ESRG on Saturday. TigerBoy drove over to my place and we ran from here to Beki's house. We went the long way round as I had to make up some kilometres. Hills....lots of them on the way to Beki's house! By the time we got there I was already gasping for breath.
We then ran down to the Mullum Mullum Creek Trail which was a much more pleasant run as it was fairly flat. Turned around and came back again, stopping at Beki's to drop her off. We then had the option of doing the short cut home, or going back the way we came. Decided on the way we'd come but for some reason I had thought that the hills we'd run on the way to Beki's place were mainly uphill, so was looking forward to running down the hills on the way back to my place. God knows how but I got it all wrong. It was uphill nearly all the way home!!
Legs were very sore, especially my calves and I had to sit down on the floor when I got inside as they just wouldn't support me any more. I downed a protein drink straight away and did some stretching, which helped loads.
I want to thank TB for offering to come and run with me this morning. If he hadn't come with me I probably wouldn't have run the distance I did. And I also want to thank Beki for her company too. It meant that TB couldn't drag me along at a hundred mile an hour, which is what he did on the way over to Beki's place (well it felt like it anyway TB!).
Looking forward to a nice easy jog tomorrow morning along MMCT...again!
I've been tagged....
Beki has tagged me, so here's some answers to running questions.
1. What time of day do you run?
During the week I run at 6am with Michelle and Beki if she can make it. On weekends it's normally a lay in - 8am!
2. What are your favourite runs?
I love running in Sherbrooke Forest. It's so peaceful and the scenery is beautiful.
3. What is your favorite song to run to?
Way too many to list, but mainly songs that have the same beat as my running gait and good sing a long songs i.e.
Racey - Lay your love on me
Fat Boy Slim - Kung Fu Fighting
The Angels - Am I ever gonna see your face again
Nancy Sinatra - These boots are made for Walking
Cheap Trick - I want you to want me
Outkast - Hey Ya
The Sweet - Wig Wam Bam
Soul Chip - Lets Rock
The Beatles - Please Mr Postman
4. What book are you reading at the moment?
Currently going back through old issues of Runners World and R4YL Magazines to find some good training tips.
5. When did you start running?
Started taking running more seriously in 1994 when I met my best friend in the UK who became my running partner.
6. What's your post-race/post-run ritual?
Hang around the start line until the race starts, then stretch after the race or run.
7. What do you eat before you run?
Training runs - if early morning, maybe 1/2 a banana. Long runs I normally have a bowl of porridge with a sliced banana and golden syrup drizzled on top.
8. What's your favorite running accessory?
Gav (My Garmin 301)
9. What's your motivation for running? (or why you first started running)
My motivation has always been to keep my weight down, but since I've met Michelle and all the people from the Ausrun Forum, it's also a great social meet up and I've met some lovely new friends.
10. What are your running shoes?
Currently wearing Saucony Hurricane Grid 6's and have another new pair stashed under the bed, along with a brand new pair of 7's which I've just bought!
11. What is your next running goal?
Next goal is to complete the Puffing Billy Race, and then get the first 1/2 marathon for the year (Great Ocean Road) under my belt.
I'll tag anyone who wants to do this meme!
Sunday 16th April
Exercise: NIL, NADA, NOTHING since Thursday
Well what can I say - I chickened out of running yesterday due to the crappy weather. I know it was a pretty lame excuse, and I spent some time last night trying to figure out why I didn't want to run.
I came up with a couple of reasons that may or may not be relevant.
First one. When I was about 15 I used to do Venturers. To achieve one of our badges, we had to do a 2 day hike through the bush just using a compass, with no outside help to get to our designated pick up point. There were 3 of us, me, my friend Carol, a guy called Peter and his dog! We set off in high spirits on a Saturday morning, but before too long realised that we were completely lost in the bush. Seems that we had set the compass wrong before we even started (not good!!). Then in the afternoon after we'd be wandering through the bush aimlessly, it started to rain - heavily! And we got soaked right through. And the leeches came out. I still have flashbacks when anyone talks about leeches!! Anyway we eventually found the road that we were supposed to be on and made it to the "dugout" where we were going to camp and also meet an adult who was making sure we had arrived safely.
We had 2 tents (one for Peter and one for us girls) but because we were all so cold and wet we just put up the one tent and tried to keep as warm as possible. We ended up packing the tent up really early and just hiking to where we were getting picked up. Arrived about 2 hours early but didn't care as there was a building that we could sit in and it was dry!!
There was also another incident last year. You can read about it here!
I'm also going to go to Anaconda tomorrow to look at waterproof jackets. This will make my fear aversion of running in the rain less of a problem knowing that I might not actually get wet if I'm wearing something waterproof.
Now, on the subject of Easter - I ate 3 hot cross buns on Friday, so for me that's not too bad! I also ate 6 small hollow eggs last night...still not too bad for me! And I've just eaten 3/4 of a dark choc rabbit...now that's bad! Am desparately trying to down a litre of water to clean the system out!
No more chocolate. I've agreed to try out Beki's diet plan. I'd like to try and stick to it as I know that Beki is going to do it and I think that Michelle is too. Can't let the side down now can we!!
Thursday 13th April
Exercise: 9.6km Run - Mullum Mullum Creek Trail
Another run along the trail with Michelle and Beki. I love that it's fairly light by 6.15am at the moment. Makes running so much easier.
Found it a bit chilly this morning and I can see that the weather is now changing. Much cooler in the mornings and getting chilly again by evening. I'll probably be wearing at least 6 layers before winter starts as I absolutely hate feeling cold.
Haven't got back to the gym since Tuesday due to various things, but am hoping to get in a couple of days over the weekend, using our new home gym in the garage. We have everything that I need to do a basic workout, so no excuses there!! (well I can always come up with one if I really need to!).
Long run with the ESRG on Saturday up and down some hills from Mt Evelyn to Olinda...joy oh joy!!
Wednesday 12th April
Exercise: 9.6km Run - Mullum Mullum Creek Trail
Got another run in this morning with Michelle, but if you could have heard us both whinging and moaning about all of our ailments, painful bits etc, you would have thought that we were about to croak it!!
But in my defence, my calves are sore from Netball, my shoulders are sore from the gym yesterday, and the top of my foot is still sore too!!
Not a good day foodwise unfortunately. Once a month our company does a Morning Tea, which also coincides with the boss giving a general update on how the company is going.
Today, being so close to Easter, we had Hot Cross Buns and Easter Eggs. Doesn't sound too bad does it? However the person who orders the food must have thought we were right little piggies as there were way too many hot cross buns and a table full of easter eggs of all different sizes and types. Way too much for the amount of people who attended the meeting.
So I've now had 2 hot cross buns and several handfuls of easter eggs, as they are all laid out on a table which is not very far away from my office!! And the hot cross buns are fresh out of the oven this morning, not the ones that are bagged up!!
The person who organised the food today has often stated how much she loves her food, especially chocolate and cakes.
So my question is this: If a person who does not have such a love of food had organised today's feast, would there have been as much food on the table?
Tuesday 11th April (Afternoon)
Exercise: Gym - Weights (Arms)
When I walked into the gym today I noticed from my reflection in the mirrors (which I try to avoid looking at) that the work pants I'm wearing today are looking a little bit baggy. When I bought these pants a few months ago they were quite "snug" and the pockets on the sides flared just a little bit because of the "snugness" of them.
This seems to be no longer happening. The pockets are now sitting nice and flat. The strange thing is that my weight hasn't really changed at all, yet my body shape has changed. I seem to be losing my waist and my bum, yet my hips and baby belly stay firmly in place!! And I'm not losing any weight whatsoever from my boobs (phew says hubby!!). I always thought that this is the first area that women lose weight.
And the weirdest thing is that I hadn't really noticed the change until today!! Lightbulb moment!! No full length mirror at home means no real studying of body shape!!
Tuesday 11th April
Exercise: 9.6km Run - Mullum Mullum Creek Trail
As I got home a bit later than expected from Netball last night (chatting to Michelle) I got to bed later than normal as I had to sit down and watch Biggest Loser and Bondi Rescue. My darling hubby had cut out all the adverts which was a blessing!!
When I got out of bed the first thing I could feel was how painful the top of my foot was. I was almost going to text Michelle and cancel our run, but being the type of person that I am, I hate letting people down, so I chucked on my stuff and headed down to the trail.
Beki showed up too, which was great. Once we got running the foot didn't feel too bad, but the pain was definitely still there. Of course I'd left it too late to ice (should have done that last night when I got home) so I'll just have to let it run it's course and see how it goes.
It's great to see that Beki has improved to the point where she is now really comfortable running at the same pace as us....in fact I don't think she was even sweating at the end!!
Monday 10th April (Evening)
Exercise: Netball Game
OK so we lost again! And I'm not sure how it happened but I've hurt the top of my foot. Feels very bruised. I don't remember landing badly either, but I remember when it started hurting....strange. Just hope it doesn't hurt too much as I'm running in the morning and I would hate for it to interfere with that (can you tell how important my running is to me now!!).
Easter is upon us very shortly and I'll let you into a little secret. Easter egg chocolate is one of my favourites. I love putting the hollow eggs into the fridge and then eating them when they're really cold....first thing in the morning when the taste buds are at their tastiest!!
I have bought some easter eggs - but I've taken them over to my parent's house so that they do not get eaten before Sunday. Yes we have no willpower in our house when chocolate is involved!!
Monday 10th April
Exercise: Gym - Weights (Shoulders)
I'm going to try and get to the gym every day this week during my lunch time (except Friday of course!). I've had a bit of a GOOGLE and I've now got a nice list of weight exercises for each muscle group so I won't get bored as I can just mix them up.
Legs not feeling too bad after yesterday's run either, which is a good sign.
And a big cheer because all of the charity chocolate at work is gone!!!! (thanks to me who bought the last Caramello Koala!!).
Sunday 9th April
Exercise: 14.7km Run for the Kids Race
Was quietly enjoying my porridge this morning when I heard Tiger Boy arrive, as he was picking me up...he was 20 minutes early!!! Raced around like an idiot getting everything together.
Picked up Beki on the way through and then drove over to Michelles place so we can all drive up in a convoy! Managed to find a parking space not too far away from the start.
God it was cold this morning. The wind was biting - so why the hell did I wear shorts???? Had 3 layers on the top though, which was an absolute necessity!
Met up with some of the other Ausrunners, chucked our bags in at the bag van and then made our way to the start line. I was really surprised that we got quite near the front and it wasn't chockers or anything. When the gun went off it only took us a minute to get past the start line and there wasn't too much of a squeeze to get through the first km either......very impressed so far.
The rest of the race went by in a blur. Running through the Domain Tunnel was a bit weird though as it got very hot inside. For some reason Michelle and I ran very fast through that section of the course (Michelle did tell me that she didn't like being in the tunnel so maybe that had a bit to do with it!). Once back out of the tunnel it was good to smell the fresh air again!!
The last couple of km's were a bit hard for me as I seemed to run out of energy. I didn't want to get my drink out as it's a hassle to put back sometimes. I often question why I bother to run with a drink bottle when I hardly ever drink from it. I might try turning it around next time and have the drink bottle at the front rather than the back. Might make it a bit easier to take out an dput back in the holder. Forgot to buy some Sport Jelly Beans, which probably would've helped me through the last 4km or so....next time!!
We got to the finish line and it was absolutely heaving with people. Found Eat Em straight away. Wandered off to get my bag. Queue was quite long but it didn't take long to get through. While in the queue, caught up with EJM who ran a great race.
Once everyone had met up we walked back to the cars, dropped our stuff off and then made for the closest pub to have a bevvy or two and a good natter about the race.
Somehow I've been talked into doing the Great Train Race with Beki....not sure how that happened!!
Oh yeah, our time for 14.7km was 1hr 22 mins, with Michelle dragging me along over the last 2kms!
Friday 7th April
Well as you can see from my lack of posts over the last 3 days, I have not done any exercise at all.
Excuses??? None. Just sheer lack of motivation.
And instead I've been feeding my face full of crap food (mainly Chocolate).
I'd organised to meet Beki this morning down at Mullum Mullum, and I got up at the normal time to meet her, but she'd texted me to say that she wasn't going to be able to make it so I turned around, took all my clothes back off and got back into bed!!
Now how slack is that??
The Run for the Kids is on Sunday. I'm doing the 14.7km event. Should be alot of Ausrunners there. For anyone who wants to pop by and say hi, we're all meeting at the Nandos place near the Telstra Dome (wherever that is!!).
And I'm getting Fish & Chips for tea tonight, being washed down with a couple of glasses of bubbly....so there!! (feeling very defensive if you couldn't guess!!).
Have a great weekend everyone...and rug up warm!
Tuesday 4th April (Afternoon)
Exercise: Weights (Chest)
Wow, that's 2 days in a row that I've been to the gym in my lunch hour (well 45 minutes really). For some reason it's just much more motivating to think that it's only going to take 25 minutes to do the workout.
I haven't been to the gym and done weights for a month and it really felt like it as well. I've lost alot of my muscle tone and also alot of strength. I actually had to take some weight off the bar to do my chest presses as it was just too uncomfortable and I was struggling. Hopefully it won't take too long to get back to where I was last month.
And I've been back to that charity box again....aaghhh!
Tuesday 4th April
Exercise: 5.26km Run (Treadmill)
Michelle is having a few days off from running (aaghhhh, what will I do now!!). Thought I might head down to the gym this morning and jump on the old treadmill for a change.
Had to get off after 30 minutes as I was bored out of my brain. Just couldn't keep going. I thought that maybe because I hadn't used one for a long time that it wouldn't be so bad, but I just couldn't hack it! Oh well, looks like tomorrow morning I'll be out pounding the pavements for a 10km run.
I've come properly prepared for my gym workout at lunchtime today. Change of top and bra now added to gym bag. Have also included some deoderant and body spray, just in case I get a bit sweaty! My back is a little bit sore from yesterday, but I love that feeling, knowing that I've actually used those muscles.
Hmmm, now what muscle group am I going to do today?? Decisions, decisions!!
Monday 3rd April (Evening)
Exercise: Netball Game
So we lost another game tonight. I was put into Centre for the last half of the game, which is good and bad. Good because I get a great workout from running around so much - bad because I have to run around so much!!
I don't think the umpires like our team very much as they keep pulling us up for stupid things, especially obstruction. Our defenders always keep their 3ft but are always pulled up, whereas down at the other end they always seem to get away with it!! Oh well, who am I to judge, I'm not an umpire so can't point my finger too much!!
I see that our Christie really wants to win TBL now doesn't she! I think that Ruth is looking so much better. It's amazing how they all get personal trainers when they come out of the house. Wonder what'll happen once the show finishes. Will they then drop their trainers and go back to their old ways or will the knowledge that they've gained keep them on the straight and narrow??
Monday 3rd April
Exercise: Gym (Back)
Have just got back from the gym. Can't believe that I actually went, as those little gremlins in the back of my mind were working overtime to convince me that I really shouldn't bother going!!
But I went anyway. And it was great knowing that I was only there for a short while, just doing 5 exercises. Makes it so much easier to motivate myself. Just need to remember to bring a change of top next time. Luckily I was wearing a singlet underneath my jumper (yes the cold weather has arrived in Melbourne!), so I wore that. And I didn't really get too sweaty or smelly either, thank goodness.
Looking forward to doing it all again tomorrow (with change of top this time!!).
Sunday 2nd April
Exercise: 23.5km Run - Williamstown
It was great getting an extra hour in bed, even if I did have to get up at 5.45am!!
Picked up Tiger Boy, Michelle and EJM and made our way over to Williamstown for an 8am start. There were about 6 Cool Runners running today.
It was freezing cold when we started off (well for me it was cold anyway) but I soon warmed up as we got going. Suppose it was a small consolation that it wasn't raining and the sun came out! Was a lovely change to actually run near the water, but the wind was very strong, and we ran into a head wind for most of the way. You might have thought that as it was a head wind on the way out we'd get a tail wind on the way back???? No such luck. Back into a head wind we went on the turnaround!
I started to feel a bit of pain in my right knee at about the 18km mark, but tried to ignore it. When we got back to the car park it was getting quite painful.
Great to run with some new people and even better to run a new trail. The only down side was that it was all pavement, which probably didn't do the knees much good, but as Michelle said, any race that we do is normally run on the road so we need to get our legs conditioned for this!!
Am now home relaxing with my feet up listening to the Grand Prix on the TV.
And my lay in yesterday morning was fantastic. Didn't get out of bed until 11.30am!!
