Sunday 31st July

Exercise: Mow Lawn, Weeding Food Intake: Breakfast: 4 Lite Weetbix with Skinny Milk & Splenda Lunch: White Bread Roll with Laughing Cow Lite Cheese Spread & Ham Dinner: 2 Chicken Burgers, 4 Glasses Champagne I don't think I stretched enough yesterday as the legs are quite stiff today. At least the knees aren't sore! I had a great afternoon cooking. I've now made up a huge batch of Chicken Risotto, Chicken Fried Rice and Chicken Chow Mein. Should have seen the mess in the kitchen when I'd finshed!! Took me nearly as long to clean up as it did to do all the cooking!! Can't wait for my new kitchen to be put in because I get a dishwasher too!! I miss having a dishwasher! I think I'm in the right frame of mind now to do this detox. Just need to have a bit of a think about what I'm going to eat for dinner each evening. Breakfast and lunch are sorted. I love not having to think about cooking!

Saturday 30th July

Weight: (before run) 64.2 - (after run) 63.2 Exercise: 2 Hr Run (19.2km) Food Intake: Breakfast: Porridge with banana & golden syrup Lunch: Cheese sandwich on grain bread Dinner: Chicken Biryani, Chicken & Herb Naan Bread, 3 Glasses Champagne, 3 Tim Tams What a beautiful morning to go for a run. The sun was shining and it wasn't cold at all!! Most of my run was on pavement so I'm not sure how my legs are going to feel tomorrow. Just hoping the knees don't ache too much. I was going to have tuna mayo with lettuce for tea but hubby suggested Indian. Now I'm not a big fan of Indian food, but I've had Biryani before so thought that was a pretty safe dish to order!! How disappointing!! I probably won't be eating Indian again in the near future!

Friday 29th July

Exercise: NO Food Intake: Breakfast: 4 Litebix with skinny milk & splenda Morning Tea: Vanilla Slice, Peppermint Slice Lunch: Chicken Hot Pot, Brown Rice, Low Fat Cheesecake Yoghurt Afternoon Tea: 2 Boxes Mentos, 6 Marshmallows Dinner: Low Fat Cheese Sandwich on Grain Bread What AGR said in her comment yesterday made me think long and hard! Am I in that elite class of fitness where I can eat just about anything without it affecting me that much?? I do admit that I'm not in the overweight group of people who need to lose, or are in the process of losing large amounts of weight. I could get away with not even dieting any more, as long as I kept up the exercise. But I do still worry about my weight. I do still worry that I wont' be able to fit into my size 10 jeans, and I do still worry about how people will see me if I'm not at my most desirable weight. I hate the feeling of being overweight and not fitting comfortably into my clothes. Yes I could probably buy a size 12 pair of jeans, and then they'd feel comfortable, but is this how weight gain starts in the first place? Can I get away with eating what I eat because I do run 30-40km per week, and go to the gym regularly? Would my eating habits change for the better if I couldn't do the amount of exercise that I do? Just think what shape I'd be in if I could stick to a better diet and STILL do the amount of exercise that I do! I've decided that I'm going to do detox again as it really worked well for me last time and I pretty much kept on the straight and narrow. My only consolation will be that I might have a drink on the weekend if I feel like it (yeah like I"m not going to!!). So on Sunday I'm going to do a big cook up and freeze lots of meals. I'll do a 2 week stint and see how I go. And I will be strict with myself. I don't have any social engagements at all in August so it shouldn't be too difficult. Okay, decision made!

Thursday 28th Julyl

Exercise: Weights, Situps Food Intake: Breakfast: 2 Slices Grain toast with margerine Morning Tea: 9 Squares of White Chocolate, Fruit Scone with margerine Lunch: Chicken Hot Pot, Brown Rice, Large White Roll with margerine, Low Fat Choc Mousse Snack: 1 Salada with margerine & Low Fat Cheese Slice Late Dinner: 1/2 Hawaiian Pizza, 1 Glass Champagne I feel like a teenager again....I have spots on my face! I know for a fact that it's because of the amount of sugar that I've been consuming lately. If you look back on my diet for the last week you'll see that alot of it is sugar laden, but not much fat. So I have these zits on my forehead and on the side of my face where my hairline is. Luckily there's none on my chin, which is where I usually get them!! I had pizza for dinner tonight. It was a lovely tasting pizza too. Went to the pictures with a girlfriend and we ate afterwards. There wasn't anything too healthy on the menu.....well okay, there were healthy choices like Chicken Salad, but I wanted pizza! I've decided to detox again......more on that later!

Wednesday 27th July

Exercise: 1 Hr Treadmill (10.74km) Food Intake: Breakfast: Porridge with banana & golden syrup Morning Tea: Low Fat Banana Muesli Bar, 6 Fruit Bars Lunch: Tuna Mayo, Cous Cous, Low Fat Choc Delight Afternoon Tea: Mandarine, 6 squares white chocolate Dinner: 4 Lite Weetbix with skim milk, White Bread roll with margerine At least I managed to get out of bed this morning to get to the gym, and then did some hard work on that treadmill!! Felt much better by the time I got home. Still not great with the eating. Something emotional going on I think, but I can't quite put my finger on it. Need to sit down and really think about it (which I don't have the time to do right now). What really gets to me is that I remember how fantastic I felt on Saturday when I got on the scales to see them register 62.2. Why then have I totally blown it over the last few days? Why can't I stay on track so that I see these figures consistently? Especially as I felt so great! I felt slim and even hubby commented on how slim I was looking!! Okay, now that I've got that off my chest I may need to make some hard decisions and face some facts about myself!

Tuesday 26th July

Exercise: NO Food Intake: Breakfast: Porridge with banana & golden syrup Morning Tea: Anzac Biscuit, Low Fat Banana Muesli Bar Lunch: Salmon with Tomato & Dill, Cous Cous, Low Fat Mayonnaise, Diet Trifle Afternoon Tea: 10 Fruit Bars Dinner: Tuna Mayo, Cous Cous, White Bread Roll with margerine Snack: Diet Choc Delight, 5 squares chocolate. Crap day eating, crap day exercising (or lack of). Not feeling great with myself. Want to just eat and eat (lots of junk!).

Monday 25th July

Exercise: 30 Mins Treadmill (5.35km), 20 Mins Cross Trainer (3.25km) Food Intake: Breakfast: 2 Crumpets with margerine Morning Tea: Low Fat Banana Muesli Bar, 1/3 Bag Coloured Popcorn Lunch: Ham Sandwich on Grain Bread, Low Fat Blueberry Cheesecake Yoghurt Afternoon Tea: Mandarine Dinner: Chicken, Brown Rice, Choc Delite Pudding, 3 Profiteroles Firstly I want to say a big HAPPY 36th BIRTHDAY to my darling toy boy hubby!! I wanted to do an hour on the treadmill this morning, but I just ran out of steam after 30 minutes. And I also had to have a pit stop due to an ill timed No. 2!! (okay a bit too much information!). The bag of popcorn was sitting in my drawer at work and I scoffed what was left. Couldn't eat it quick enough. Not a very nice sight I can tell you! I was going to buy hubby a birthday cake, but I knew that I'd probably eat way too much of it, so bought some profiteroles instead, and I was happy with the 3 that I ate. He, of course, ate the rest of them (thank goodness). And you'll be happy to know that there's only 3 bars of the charity chocolate left, so I'm hoping that they'll be gone by the end of the day. I'm also happy to report that I haven't eaten any of them (apart from the 1 line that I pinched out of Alana's block). AGR, I got on the scales this morning and I've gone back up to 64kg. That's 1.8kg in 2 days!! Our bodies are fickle things aren't they!!

Sunday 24th July

Exercise: NO Food Intake: Breakfast: 2 Doorstops, Bacon & 2 Fried Eggs Lunch/Dinner: Chicken & Sweetcorn Soup, 2 Slices Grain toast with margerine, 1 Choc Delight, 3 glasses champagne Went over to the Docklands to eat breakfast this morning. Think I OD'd on bread. Those doorstops were huge and I still managed to devour the lot. Luckily it filled me up so much that I wasn't hungry at all this afternoon. I'm looking forward to weighing myself tomorrow morning to see what the damage is after my over indulgence in food last night and today!! Strange but all I'm thinking about at the moment is going to the gym tomorrow morning and doing a hard 1 hr run....I want to stay in the 62's!!

Saturday, July 23, 2005

Saturday 23rd July

Weight: 62.2 Exercise: 1hr 55min Run (18.7km) Food Intake: Breakfast: Porridge with Banana & Golden Syrup Lunch/Dinner: Special Fried Rice, Teryaki Chicken, Miso Beef, Late Snack: Bag of Choc Raspberry Bullets, Box Mentos, 2 Glasses Champagne What a great run. Michelle & I went on a different trail today and it was lovely to see differnt views. It was supposed to rain this morning, but it didn't even start to spit until we got back to the car, which I was very happy about as I hate running in the rain (I'm sure you all realise this by now!!). I didn't end up eating anything after my run until about 4pm, by which time I was ravenous. Ended up at a food court and got the large plate of 3 chinese dishes (like you do!!). I'd brought a bottle of champagne with me (we went up to the city to celebrate hubby's birthday), so had that when we got back to the apartment we were staying at. We were both so tired that we didn't go back out again, so of course I didn't drink anything else which was a real first for me. And check out my weight. I nearly died when I got on the scales after my run. I thought that I'd be sitting on 63kg and I had to check the scales twice just to make sure that they were working properly. Of course I've probably put all the weight back on because of what I've eaten today, but I don't care. I saw those scales register 62.2. Gives me something to keep working at now!!

Friday 22nd July

Exercise: NO Food Intake: Breakfast: 2 Crumpets with margerine Morning Tea: Low Fat Banana Muesli Bar Lunch: Wendy's Coffee Smoothy, Roll of Mentos Afternoon Tea: 1/2 Bag Coloured Popcorn Dinner: 2 Salada with margerine & Low Fat Cheese Slices, Choc Delight Snack: 1 Line (3 squares) white chocolate Coloured popcorn is a big no no. On top of the smoothie it made me feel quite ill and my stomach bloated out straight away. And once I worked it out, the WW points were way too high for my liking. I'll just keep trying to find more things that I can snack on that aren't high in points. No gym this morning. Knowing that I've got a big run tomorrow, I thought that I should have a rest today. I'm so good to my body sometimes!! I brought a block of white chocolate home for my daughter to take to Grandmas this weekend, but slipped up a little bit and had a line.....but only 1 line. How controlled is that!!!

Thursday, July 21, 2005

Thursday 21st July

Exercise: 1 Hr Treadmill (10.71km) Food Intake: Breakfast: Porridge with banana & golden syrup Morning Tea: Low Fat Banana Muesli Bar Lunch: Subway Club 6", WW Fruit Salad tub Afternoon Tea: Mandarine Dinner:Tuna Mayo, Cous Cous, Bacon, White Roll with margerine, choc delight It's really strange how I feel like I ate too much today, and yet when I write it down it doesn't look that much. But there was no chocolate involved at least!! I've got a long run organised for Saturday morning with Michelle, which I'm really looking forward to. If I can keep at the same weight as I am today, by the time I do the long run and then get on the scales I'm hoping to hit 63kg. Of course there's no telling what tomorrow will bring, but at least I can say no to the alcohol as I hate running with any form of hangover!! I'm also hoping to control my eating on the weekend, but knowing what I'm like, it's going to be a hard task. Me and hubby are going to stay in town so it'll be a nice restaurant with alcohol, followed by the casino with alcohol, followed by whatever else happens with alcohol!!

Wednesday 20th July

Exercise: NO Food Intake: Breakfast: Banana Smoothie, 1 Slice Grain toast with margerine Morning Tea: Mandarine Lunch: Tuna Mayo, Cous Cous, Lettuce, Low Fat Cheesecake Yoghurt Afternoon Tea: Roll of Mentos, Bag of Carob Coated Licorice ( 9 sticks) Dinner: 1 White Bread Roll with margerine Snack: 4 Lines Dairy Milk Chocolate Today was a rest day from the gym. Still feel guilty for not going but I feel that my body needs a day off to recuperate from the pain I put it through on Sunday!! Got on the scales this morning and my weight has dropped 1.6kg since Saturday morning!! No idea why as I don't think that I've changed my eating pattern that much and I haven't done any more exercise than I would normally do either. Thankyou whoosh fairy! I went and did some shopping at lunchtime and a few nibbles ended up in the trolley!! When I got home I couldn't justify eating anything big so I just had a bread roll. The chocolate was a big mistake. Hubby brought it home for Alana but unfortunately it didn't get that far!! I sat and scoffed it while I was watching the Big Brother eviction!!

Tuesday, July 19, 2005

Tuesday 19th July

Exercise: 1Hr Treadmill (10.28km) Food Intake: Breakfast: Porridge with banana & golden syrup Morning Tea: Banana, Diced Pears Lunch: 2 Salada with Light Cream Cheese Spread & Tomato, Low Fat Choc Mousse Afternoon Tea: Pear Dinner: Tuna Mayo, Cous Cous, Lettuce, Choc Delight I wasn't intending on running today as my quads are a bit painful still, but once I got on the treadmill I thought I might do a light jog, which turned into an hours worth of running...go figure that one out!! The Charity chocolate has arrived. Alana brought this big box of 85g blocks of chocolate home from school. I've brought it in to work so that I can sell it rather than leaving it at home where I would just keep eating it. I'm still having problems walking past it every time I get a drink or go to reception. So far I have refrained. I just hope people buy the bars quickly!! I'm happy with my food intake today, although I felt hungry all day long. Kept looking for something to eat that would fill me up. Chocoalte was at the top of my list!!

Monday 18th July

Exercise: Weights, Situps Food Intake: Breakfast: 2 Slices grain toast with margerine Morning Tea: Chicken with Noodle Soup, Banana Lunch: White Roll with Ham & Low Fat Cheese, Low Fat Blueberry Cheesecake Yoghurt Afternoon Tea: 15 Rice Crackers, Mandarine Dinner: Chicken & Broccoli Casserole, Pasta, Gravy, Low Fat French Cheesecake Yoghurt, 1/4 Glass Red Wine I made myself get out of bed this morning to go to the gym. I actually woke up about 10 minutes before the alarm went off and thought of every reason not to get out of bed. When the alarm went off I was still trying to talk myself out of going, but then remembered what the scales had said on Saturday, which made me promptly jump out of the bed!! Just a little pain in the quads at the moment, but I'll rub in some tiger balm which should help lots. I've incorporated a bit of bread back into my diet, especially as it's low on the WW point table. I know the roll should have been a grain one, but I'd bought a bag with 6 rolls in them and the supermarket don't do the bags with grain rolls only white. My dinner sounds awful when it's written down, but it was actually quite tasty. The casserole itself was a bit bland so I added some gravy to it. It also drowns out the broccoli so that my daughter can't see she's eating it!! Hubby gave me a glass of red wine (as I'd drunk all my champagne yesterday!!) but I just can't drink that stuff. I've only ever had one glass of red wine that I enjoyed and I can't for the life of me remember which Wolf Blass label it was. I'm slowly buying them all for hubby so that I can have a little taste to see if I can find it again!!

Sunday 17th July

Exercise: 21.1km run Food Intake: Breakfast: Porridge with banana & golden syrup Morning Tea: Power Bar, Fruit Bar Lunch: Ham sandwich on grain bread Dinner: Chicken, Cous Cous, Low Fat Mayo, 2 rolls mentos, 4 Glasses Champagne Snack: Rice Crackers, Soft lollies Had a great run, see below for report. Eating wise I did okay until after dinner. Then my sugar cravings kicked in like you would not believe. I ate most of Alana's lollies that I'd bought for her, then continued to scrounge through the cupboard for more food!! And I polished off the whole bottle of champagne. If this is what doing half marathons does to the system, then I'm not sure I'm going to enter any more (that's a joke by the way).

Sandy Point Half Marathon

I tried to get an early night last night, but it was still 10.30pm before I put my book down and turned the light out. Hubby woke me up during the night when he came to bed. He'd been out to the movies with a mate and didn't get into till very late, so it took me a little while before I fell back to sleep. Managed to wake up about 10 minutes before the alarm went off, and tiptoed around the house trying not to make too much noise. As usual I'd allowed way too much time to get ready and eat some brekky, so messed around on the computer for a little while before leaving to pick Michelle up. I was also 15 minutes early to her place, but she was ready anyway, so we headed down to Sandringham. Roads were amazingly quiet (but what do you expect at 6.15 on a Sunday morning). Made it down there in about 15 minutes, so we sat in the car and chatted for about 40 minutes before venturing out into the cold. And boy was it cold. We were right on the beach and that wind was bitter. At least it wasn't raining. I could hardly put my number on as I was shivering so much!! We caught up with some of the Aus Run guys, grabbed our numbers then raced over to the holding area to drop off our bags. Had to queue for the toilets which took at least 10 minutes. Why do us women have to squat? Back over to the start and we see Eat Em right at the front of the race queue, give him a quick good luck, then me and Michelle trudge to the back of the line, which is where we said we wanted to start from as it was much less squashy than closer to the front, and we didn't want to get in the way of all the faster runners either. So the hooter goes and we race out of the reserve and onto the main road. The wind hits us as soon as we enter the road and continues to blow all the way up to the turn around point. As this is an out and back course, we see all the fast runners heading back as we're still on the first leg. A big shout and wave to Eat Em, Tony and Janice (Michelle's friend) as they pass us on their way back. We get to the turnaround point and it's back to the start line, this time with the wind behind us. The view running back is beautiful. We can see out to sea and also look over the marina. We actually get some sunshine and I almost feel warm!! Once we get back to the turnaround point, we walk through the water station and have a quick drink before going back out for the second leg. We're feeling pretty good at this stage, but the wind is a bit stronger and the gentle inclines on the first leg feel a bit more like hills on this leg. Because Michelle and I are nattering so much, I don't really notice the distance, so the turnaround point comes up quickly. We head for home, knowing exactly how far we have left to run. The marshalls are now starting to clear the bollards, so we're definitely at the back of the pack. At least there is no traffic on the road as they've closed it off to cars. We even manage to pass a few people in the last couple of kilometres. We finally head into the home straight, with Eat Em egging us on, making us run faster. We get to the reserve where the finish line is and think it is a straight run over the line, but instead the course includes a lap of the field before we enter the finish line area....thanks for that guys!!! We manage to do a fast lap (because everyone is watching!!) and do a sprint over the finish line. Ended up running 2hrs 10minutes, which we are really happy about. We thought we'd do it in about 2hr 15-20mins. Have a bit of a chat to Eat Em and Janice who were waiting at the finish line to cheer for us, then head over to the goody bag area (Power Bar, Fruit Bar and Fila Socks) and then we go and grab the coveted free T-Shirt. Because we were at the back of the pack there's not much choice in sizes, so it was either Large, Large or Large!! It was a great experience for both of us, and I'm so glad that I did this race. I've proved to myself that I can run these distances (and enjoy doing it). The next one is in 3 weeks time....can't wait!!

Saturday 16th July

Exercise: NO Food Intake: Breakfast: Porridge with banana & golden syrup Lunch: Toasted Banana Sandwich with sprinkled Splenda, Diet Choc Mousse Dinner: 2 Turkey Burgers, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Gravy, 1/4 glass champagne Snack: S&V Rice Snakatas, Packet of Mentos Yesterday at work I spent alot of time getting my food spreadsheet into a form where I can track WW points, fat and calories of everything that I eat. It really opens your eyes when you write it all down and add up all the numbers!! Thanks to Mary for giving up the link for the WW points calculator. Makes life so much easier when working out points. Well my good intentions from yesterday didn't come to anything. It was really cold when I poked my head out the door this morning, so I thought to myself that I'd take my daughter swimming and then I'd go to the gym afterwards, rather than doing an outdoor run. I'd even put all my gym gear on so I could just push her through the front door for hubby to deal with when we got back, and then make a dash for the gym. But when we got back I had lost the motivation to go, so I ended up doing the ironing instead as an excuse. And then it got to lunch time and I justified not going by eating lunch. And of course we all know that we shouldn't exercise on a full stomach. So I'll just save myself for tomorrow and know that I'll have lots of energy to run the 21 kilometres!! And speaking of running it, I'm now starting to get quite excited, and very nervous as it gets closer and closer. I've already started going to the loo more often due to my nerves and I've still got another 11 hours to go before I even hit the start line!! I'll do an update when I get back tomorrow. Need to go and get all my stuff together now as it's going to be an early start (the alarm's set for 5am!!).

Friday 15th July

Exercise: NO Food Intake: Breakfast: Banana Smoothie, 1 Slice Grain Toast with margerine Morning Tea: 85gm bar Dairy Milk Chocolate, Handful S&V Rice Snakatas Lunch: 3 Salada Biscuits with 1 1/2 Laughing Cow Triangles, Diet Choc Mousse Afternoon Tea: Mandarine Dinner: Bowl of Potato Wedges with Sweet Chili Sauce & Sour Cream, 3 Glasses Champagne Somebody bought more charity chocolate in to work this week. I've managed to avoid it all week, but today it just got the better of me and I grabbed a bar of chocolate. Why, if I was going to do chocolate, didn't I just grab a Freddo instead? Because I'm a guts when it comes to chocolate, that's why!! It got eaten in about 2 minutes flat...I didn't even savour it, just shoved it in quick smart! I've looked up where the WW meetings are and there's one about 3km away, so I'm going to wander on down next Wednesday night. Might see if my sister wants to come along too. Moral support and all that! Gym didn't happen again this morning. Couldn't face that treadmill again! Looking to go for a short run outside tomorrow. Only a short one because I need all my energy for the 1/2 marathon on Sunday.....and I've heard that there's going to be showers and it's going to be about 5 degrees!!! Perfect running weather - NOT!

Thursday 14th July

Exercise: 30 Mins Treadmill (4.65km), Weights, Stomach Food Intake: Breakfast: Porridge with banana & golden syrup Morning Tea: Fruit Scone with margerine Lunch: Chicken Teryaki, Mongolian Beef, Fried Rice (Lunch Pack) Afternoon Tea: Manderine Dinner: 2 Salada biscuits with low fat cheese, Low Fat Choc Mousse I have seriously OD'd on chinese today. Went to the local shopping centre with a friend from work and we didn't realise how big the plate of food was going to be when we ordered. Still managed to finish the plate though!! I've had a good think this afternoon about my eating habits and why I keep destroying all the hard work that I put in with my exercise. I've discussed it with Hubby and I think that I'm going to join Weight Watchers. It makes me more accountable for my food and means that I have to be accountable to somebody else as well. I would hate the thought of getting on the scales in front of lots of people and not lost weight or even gained weight. At home I can justify it to myself, but I couldn't do that with other people. Just need to find a local group and join up. Think it's free to join at the moment too. I also feel quite comforted knowing that I have lots of people to help me if I get stuck at all (that's you lot!!).

Wednesday 13th July

Exercise: 1/2 Hr Treadmill (5.34km), 1/2 Hr Cross Trainer (4.76km) Food Intake: Breakfast: Porridge with banana & golden syrup Morning Tea: 2 Pkts Mentos, 1/2 packet Rice Crackers Lunch: Tuna Mayo, Cous Cous, 2 Slices Grain Bread with margerine, 1 pkt choc bullets Afternoon Tea: 1 Oatmeal biscuit Dinner: Chicken Hotpot with 2 dumplings Jumped out of bed this morning to get down the gym. I was determined to go no matter how I felt when I woke up. Luckily I woke up full of beans (well as full of beans as you can get at 5.45am!!). And I really enjoyed it today. When I use the treadmill I put the incline on 1 so that there is some resistance, and then normally run at 10.5. This morning after about 10 minutes at this speed I still felt really strong and wound it up to 11 for another 10 minutes. It was only when I thought that I'd do a bit of hill work that I realised that I wasn't on an incline at all. No wonder I had lots of engery!! Once I'd put it up to where it should be I felt the difference straight away. Didn't take me very long to reduce the speed back to a respectable 10.5!! I've got a light runny nose. Just hoping that it's becuase of the cold weather, but just in case I'm now downing Eccinacea (sp?) tablets like there's no tomorrow. I really don't want another cold before the weekend!! Think it might be TTOM as I'm craving chocolate again...in fact I'm craving anything sweet. I hardly ever know when I'm on as I use Implanon as my contraceptive and I don't actually bleed (sorry to any guys viewing!!).

Kashmir Lamb with Spinach

Here's a recipe for a great curry. 750gm diced lamb (or any other meat) 2 large onions, chopped 3 cloves garlic, crushed (or 2 teaspoons garlic paste) 4cm ginger, grated (or 1 teaspoon ground ginger) 2 teaspoons ground cumin 2 teaspoons ground coriander 2 teaspoons tumeric 1/4 teaspoond ground cardomon 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves 3 bay leaves 1 1/2 cups chicken stock 1/2 cup light cream, light carnation milk or low fat/no fat yoghurt 2 bunches spinach leaves, washed & chopped salt & black pepper Mix all the spices with the chicken stock and pour over the meat. Add bay leaves and onions. Simmer on low for 7-8 hours or high for 4 hours. 1/2 hour before serving add cream and spinach. Serve with basmati or brown rice. No idea of WW points but I'm sure that Suzy will be able to add it all up and let me know!!

Tuesday 12th July

Exercise: NO Food Intake: Breakfast: Porridge with Banana & Golden Syrup Morning Tea: 1 Anzac Biscuit, 1 WW Fruit of the Forest Bar Lunch: Kashmir Chicken with Brown Rice, Low Fat Choc Mousse Afternoon Tea: 2 Anzac Biscuits Dinner: 1 Staty Chicken Kebab, Tuna Mayo & Cous Cous, 1/2 Packet S&V Rice Chips The closer to the 1/2 marathon I get, the less I seem to want to exercise. Why is this so??? I went to bed early last night so that I could get a good night's sleep and be full of beans so that I jumped out of bed when the alarm went off. Instead I was in a really deep sleep when the alarm went off and I felt all fuzzy and unco-ordinated, so didn't even bother to get out of bed!! And I can't go to the gym tongiht even if I wanted to as Hubby is playing Squash. Tomorrow, yes tomorrow I'll be there bright and early! I've now discovered that we get fresh Anzac Biscuits delivered at work once a fortnight for the staff. So something else that I'm going to have to try and avoid in the future. In my favour, the vending machine has been removed because it wasn't used enough. This was probably because it was in a building behind the main office and was too far to walk if you got the munchies. Out of sight, out of mind!!

Monday 11th July

Exercise: 30 Mins Treadmill (5.05km), Weights, Stomach Food Intake: Breakfast: Porridge with Banana & Golden Syrup Morning Tea: Low Fat Banana Muesli Bar Lunch: Chicken Curry & Brown Rice, Low Fat Choc Mousse Afternoon Tea: 2 Mandarines Dinner: Grilled Chicken, Mashed Sweet Potato, Baked Beans I'm taking the running a bit easier this week as the 1/2 marathon is on Sunday. I've decided to run each morning, but only do a 1/2 hour. That should keep the legs moving, but not put too much hard work on them. Not much else to say today. Been a pretty good day food wise. Maybe put a bit too much potato on my plate, but at least it was sweet potato and not something really bad!!

Sunday, July 10, 2005

Sunday 10th July

Exercise: 15km on Treadmill Food Intake: Breakfast: Banana Lunch: Tomato Soup, 3 Slices Grain toast with margerine Afternoon Tea: ChocTop IceCream Dinner: Chicken & Bacon Salad with 1 Egg, Low Fat Mayonnaise, 2 Glasses Champagne Snack: 5 Chocolate Digestive Biscuits I decided to go to the gym this morning rather than run outside even though it wasn't raining. I somehow got through the boredom of running on the treadmill for an hour and a half but it was really hard to keep focused. Then I took my daughter to the movies to see Madagascar.....and I nearly got through it without the ice cream, but it wasn't to be. Hubby specifically wanted Chocolate Diegestives after dinner (which I went and bought for him...more fool me!) and I told him that I just wanted a couple. His idea of a couple was 5!! And once he'd put them on a plate for me, I wasn't giving them back to him....no sirree.

Saturday 9th July

Weight: 63.6 Exercise: NO Food Intake: Breakfast: Porridge with banana & golden syrup Lunch: Veal wrapped in pancetta with vegetables & creamy sage sauce, 1 glass champagne Afternoon Tea: Small packet Picnic Chocettes Dinner: 3/4 small block Club Chocolate, 1 packet S&V Rice Crackers, 2 glasses champagne I got up early so that I could meet Michelle at 8am for our long run. Got to where we were meeting and it was peeing down with rain. We both decided that to run for 2 hours in the rain was just asking for a cold, so we made the decision not to run. I'm going to the gym in the morning to run on the treadmill instead. I think we did the right thing too. Bit disappointed that I don't get to run with anyone tomorrow (Michelle has to work), but that's the way it goes sometimes. We went and saw Circus Oz in town today and we ate lunch at The Spaghetti Tree, which is one of the restaurants in the Entertainment Book (which we bought this year). Circus Oz was great, and not what I was expecting. We stopped at a shop as we were walking from the restaurant to the Circus, hence me buying chocolate. We only went in to buy some water!! On a good note my weight is still under 10 stone.

Friday 8th July

Exercise: 25 mins cross trainer (4.6km), 30 Mins Treadmill (5.16km) Food Intake: Breakfast: Porridge with banana & golden syrup Morning Tea: Low Fat Banana Muesli Bar Lunch: Chicken Fried Rice, Low Fat Choc Mousse Afternoon Tea: 1 Banana, 1 WW Fruit of the Forest Bar Dinner: 2 Salada with low fat cheese spread, 1 mini pack doritos & cheese & bacon balls, 2 packets mentos Yippee.....I've found it. My motivation has returned, dragging it's sorry little tail behind!! And about time too! I had a quick peek on the scales this morning to see if I've caused any damage due to my lack of exercise and I'm a bit puzzled because I've actually lost weight. It's probably due to the loss of muscle (can this happen over 3 days?). Anyway it's put a smile on my face. I'll weigh myself properly tomorrow after my 20km run. Was anyone else cold last night. I was freezing in bed. Just couldn't get warm. I even had to get up at about 1.30am and put some trakky pants on, that's how cold I was. I do have some fleecy jimjams but normally I get too hot wearing them so I only had the top on. It wasn't even cold in the house, it was just me!! Can't wait for summer. Totally ruined a good days eating with my dinner choices! Should have eaten a proper meal rather than picking at stuff in the cupboard.

Wednesday 6th July

Exercise: NO Food Intake Breakfast: Porridge with banana & golden syrup Morning Tea: Low Fat Banana Muesli Bar Lunch: 2 Salada Biscuits with Cream Cheese Spread, Low Fat Diet Choc Mousse, Packet S&V Rice Snacks, 2 Packets Mentos Afternoon Tea: 2 Mandarines Dinner: Chicken Curry, Basmati Rice LOST: Motivation. Not seen since Tuesday. If found, please return to owner. Reward offered I've really lost my momentum at the moment. Just don't want to go to the gym. I was hoping that I might have the energy to get down there tonight, but it just didn't happen. I?m a little bit concerned now as I need to continue to add mileage to my legs otherwise I?m not going to do very well in the marathon next weekend Suzy we had your Chicken Curry tonight. It was really nice too. I might add some other type of spices next time and make it more of an Indian tasting curry, rather than a sweet curry. I've got a great recipe that I might adapt to use in the slow cooker. I'll put it up here when I get home tonight I think I've gotten past the chocolate eating phase, but am now hooked on Mentos. Whenever I go into the supermarket I pick up a couple of packets. They have few calories and hardly any fat, but sugar content is quite high. Wish I could get hooked on fruit instead!

Testing

I’m doing a test to see if I can use my email to create a blog rather than having to log into Blogger. (makes it look like I’m sitting at my desk working then!!)

Tuesday 5th July

Exercise: NO Food Intake: Breakfast: Porridge with Banana & Honey Morning Tea: S&V Rice Crakers Lunch: Chicken Fried Rice, Diet Low Fat Choc Mousse, 2 Packets Mentos Afternoon Tea: WW Fruit of the Forest Bar Dinner: 2 Kanga Bangers, Mashed Sweet Potato, Baked Beans Snack: S&V Rice Snacks Didn't want to go to the gym this morning. First time I've had that feeling in a long time. Not sure why yet. I think it's because I am so bored with running on the treadmill. Can't wait for it to get light enough that I can run outside instead. Has anyone had kangaroo sausages? I bought some in Safeway on the recommendation of a friend and they taste just like normal sausages, only there's hardly any fat in them and lots of protein. And using sweet potato instead of normal potatoes is a good substitute too. So I got to eat one of my favourite comfort food meals without all the guilt and stress of eating too much fat!! I've got a small twinge in my right knee. I can only feel the twinge when I move awkwardly but it's definitely there. Not too concerned at the moment, but I'm doing another 20k run on Saturday morning so I might rest it until then. But on the other hand if I do that it'll mean that I haven't done any running during the week, which might have a negative affect on my running the longer distance on Saturday. Hmmm, what to do!!

Monday 4th July

Exercise: Weights, Stomach Food Intake: Breakfast: Porridge with Banana & Golden Syrup Morning Tea: Low Fat Banana Muesli Bar Lunch: Chicken Hotpot, 2 Salada Biscuits with margerine, Low Fat Diet Choc Mousse Afternoon Tea: WW Fruit of the Forest Bar Dinner: Chicken Breast, Green Salad, Egg, Low Fat Mayonnaise, 2 Glasses Champagne Gave the poor legs a break today and worked on my muscles instead. Normally after a long run my legs are quite sore, especially the quads and calves and I walk around like an old woman for a couple of days. Yesterday, however, I rubbed some Tiger Balm into my calves and quads to see if I could ease the aches a little bit. Got up this morning and I could not believe it, there was no pain in the calves at all. Wonder stuff this Tiger Balm. Sure it stinks to high heaven and people know when you're around them, but I didn't realise just how good it was. Will definitely use it after every long run now....and for those who haven't heard of it, you can buy it in the supermarket down the aisle that sells the toothpaste and vitamins. Food wise, I'm very happy with what I ate today. Wish I could say that every day! But if I can follow this sort of eating pattern for a while at least, I'll be very satisfied.

Sunday 3rd July

Exercise: 2 Hr Run Outside (19.6km) Food Intake: Breakfast: Porridge with Banana & Golden Syrup Lunch: No Dinner: Chicken Hotpot with 2 Dumplings, Low Fat Diet Choc Mousse, 2 Glasses Champagne Snack: 1 Packet Rice Crackers, 1 Glass Champagne I did a really stupid thing. Last night I drank a bit of champagne but didn't bother to drink any water, so of course this morning when I woke up I was a bit dehydrated. I had a few mouthfuls of water but that was it. I totally forgot that I was running this afternoon and did not drink enough water to rehydrate me enough to do a long run. So of course over the last 5km or so I was really struggling. Had to keep stopping at the water taps along the route that we ran just to get some water into me. I won't do that again. If I'm going to drink, I really need to drink a litre of water before I go to bed, and then another litre when I get out of bed. Suzy, just to let you know that I modified your Beef Hotpot recipe to my liking (i.e. what I had in the fridge) and it was fabulous. The dumplings were so easy to make and they cooked up a treat in the slow cooker. Even hubby had 2nds!! I just realised that I didn't put a link to my habit eating post, but if you look to the right you'll see that I've put 3 new links to posts that I did last year which talk about my food and chocolate idiosyncracies. And did everyone watch Big Brother tonight? I'm so addicted!! Can't wait for Tuesday night either!

Saturday 2nd July

Exercise: NO Food Intake: Breakfast: Porridge & Golden Syrup Lunch: 3 Slices La Porchetta Chicken Pizza, Shoestring Fries, 1 Glass Riesling Afternoon Tea: Packet Darrel Lea Red Licorice chunks covered in Chocolate Dinner: 2 Salada biscuits with margerine, 3 glasses Champagne I took my daughter to see Disney on Ice today with my sister and her 2 daughters. I had already decided that we were going to eat at La Porchetta so had deliberately only eaten a small breakfast and didn't bother to take anything with me to snack on while we watched Disney on Ice. The fries were my downfall I think. I was full on the 3 slices of pizza, but because the fries were sitting there in front of me, I just kept dipping into the bowl and munching on them. They wern't even that nice to be honest, but I still kept eating them! The chocolate licorice on the train when we went home were just a habit thing, which I talked about here! I couldn't justify eating anything big when I got home, but the champagne was a necessity!!

Friday 1st July

Exercise: 30 Mins Cross Trainer (5.70km), 25 Mins Treadmill (4.39km) Food Intake: Breakfast: All Bran with Skinny Milk & Banana Morning Tea: Low Fat Banana Muesli Bar, Slice of Pavlova, Slice of Cheesecake Lunch: Chicken & Broccoli Casserole, Brown Rice, Slice of Cheesecake Dinner: WW Chicken Fettucine, 2 glasses Champagne, Rice Crackers Pinch, punch, first day of the month!! Can you believe what I ate for morning tea!! The finance department put on a huge spread of cakes and slices to celebrate the new financial year and boy did I dig in! I even ate the muesli bar before I walked over the the finance area so that I wouldn't be hungry, but did that deter me......no way! In my defence the slices of cake were very small - well, compared to what I would normally cut anyway! I'm so glad that this dosen't happen every week or I'd be in big trouble. Now if they'd put lots of savoury stuff out I probably would have only grabbed a handful or chips or something like that, and not bothered with anything else, but because of my sweet tooth it was all just too good to resist, even though that last piece of cheesecake made me come out in a cold sweat because of all the sugar I'd just consumed!! Oh and a little confession....I had 2 Weight Watchers frozen meals in the freezer which I could have eaten last night. Totally forgot about them until Mary & Margaret mentioned them.
