Tuesday 31st May
Exercise: Weights, Situps
Food Intake:
Breakfast: Porridge with Banana
Morning Tea: Muesli Bar
Lunch: Chicken Curry with Brown Rice, Rice Crackers, Roll of Fruit Mentos
Dinner: 1 Sausage
I ate a whole packet of Salt & Vinegar Rice Crackers today. Just munched my way through the whole lot. What am I doing??? And the sugar cravings still haven't passed yet.
Dinner was a non event due to the amount of rice crackers I'd shoved in my mouth this afternoon. Crappy day all round really.
And I got on the scales this morning......rolls eyes toward ceiling. It's gotta stop now - this lack of willpower to eat properly. Why can't I just think that I'm still doing detox and stay within my boundaries when it comes to food??
Okay, lets focus again!
Monday 30th May
Exercise: Rest Day
Food Intake:
Breakfast: All Bran with Banana & Skim Milk
Morning Tea: Muesli Bar
Lunch: Chicken Fried Rice, Dark Chocolate Bar, Nougat Choc Bar
Dinner: 2 Egg Sandwiches on Gluten/Wheat Free Bread
Thought I'd give the body a rest today as I pushed it quite hard last week, and with the 10k run yesterday my hips are a bit sore. Back into it tomorrow.
I'm not sure what to do now foodwise. Do I just stick to what I've been eating over the last 3 weeks and hopefully continue with some more weight loss, or do I incorporate other foods back into my diet that I haven't been eating? I'll probably do a bit of both and see what happens. If I start putting on weight again then I'll probably revert bact to detox eating.
Update: So I still haven't gotten over my sugar craving, hence chocolate at lunch time.
Sunday 29th May
Exercise: 10k Fun Run
Food Inake:
Detox Day 21
Breakfast: Porridge with Banana
Lunch: 2 Slices Gluten/Wheat Free Toast with Margerine
Afternoon Tea: Rice Crackers
Dinner: 2 Steamed Dim Sims, Chips, 2 Glasses Champagne, 3/4 (large) Bag M&M's
I feel sick. Dinner was a total over indulgence of food that I haven't eaten for 3 weeks. But it's over now. Don't need it anymore. Back to good eating. Got it out of the system now.
Fun run was fantastic. See post below. Want to do it again. I'm going to do the Lap of the Lake next.
10K Run to the G
Woke up way too early. Must have been the nerves, although I think I was more excited than nervous. Anyway the toilet was used constantly before I left home.
Managed to get hubby and daughter out of bed, fed and ready to go. Only 5 minutes later than the time I wanted to leave, so that was a good result. I?ve got quite good at packing my bag too and knowing what I want to take with me. Just forgot the Melways, that?s all!!
The roads were empty on the way up to town and it was only when we were about kilometre away that we saw people walking to the MCG. Traffic picked up as we turned into Swan Street, which is where the car parking was. So I did a U turn and parked in a little spot quite close to the MCG. I prayed that there were no parking officers on duty!!
Weather was cold and overcast, but at least there was no rain.
I was meeting up with three other runners from the Ausrun forum (Tigerboy, MichelleD and Astroboy), and found them no problems. We all had a bit of a natter, went for a quick last minute wee before the race and then headed down to the start line.
Today?s race was a huge difference to the Lest We Forget run that I did last month. There would have been at least 2000 people lining up for the 10K race, compared to about 150 for the 8k Lest We Forget run. Still can?t understand why more people didn?t run in it!
So we hear the siren for the start of the race and then have to wait a few minutes before the crowd moves forward as we were way down the back of the pack. Then it takes a while to actually get into a space where we can run without having to dodge people walking and slower moving runners.
I wasn?t sure how I was going to run without my music, but chatting to Michelle and the guys made all the difference. The 5k marker came around very quickly. Michelle checked her watch and we were on 23 minutes?.amazing!! The course was also pretty flat so there wasn?t any real effort with hills, which was great. It was only when we?d done another couple of kilometres that Michelle realised somehow she?d pushed the stop button on her watch as it was still on 23 minutes, so we had no idea what time we were actually running.
Only found out while we were running that the furthest Astroboy had ever run was 7km, and he was running really well, keeping up the pace with the rest of us. Just goes to show you that running with other people really makes a difference.
Anyway at the 8km mark there?s a hill, followed gladly by a downhill stretch, then at the 9km mark another small hill, but downhill again after that. And then at the last 500 metres we all decide to do a sprint to the finish. Lots of people clapping and cheering (not just for us of course!!) but a great way to end the race.
There was a huge queue to get our showbags. Felt like I was at the airport waiting to check in. Moving forward a little bit at a time! Not a bad showbag though.
We have no idea what time we did, but we were aiming for under 60 minutes. Will check out the website tonight to see if the results are in.
A great race, and a really enjoyable run. Can?t wait for the next one!
Here's the start line for the 10k race
Me, Michelle and Astroboy near the finish line. Tigerboy was way out ahead!!
Saturday 28th May
Weight: 63.6
Exercise: 30 Min Treadmill (5.26km)
Food Intake:
Detox Day 20
Breakfast: Porridge with Banana
Lunch: 4 Slices Gluten/Wheat Free Toast with Margerine
Afternoon Tea: Muesli Bar
Dinner: Chicken Risotto, Box SaKaTa Snacks
So I got up and went to the gym this morning like I said I was going to do. It was a strange feeling to get off the treadmill after only 30 minutes. Almost felt like I was giving up half way through my workout. But that was all the time I had and I didn't want to push it too hard today anyway.
I've got all my stuff ready for tomorrow and I've set the alarm for 6.30am. Will need to make sure that hubby and daughter get all their stuff ready too as I don't want to be late, not that I ever am, but being the control freak that I am, I have to be there with lots of time to spare just in case something happens and we get held up!
Right I'm off to get some more water into me and then an early night!
Oh, and I've lost a bit more weight this morning. I'm almost not willing to come off this detox now as I've started to reap the benefits of it. I've decided to do my official weigh in tomorrow morning after I've done the 10k run. Maybe that's cheating a bit but hey ho!
Friday 27th May
Exercise: 45 Min Treadmill - PowerWalk (5.74km), Situps
Food Intake:
Detox Day 19
Breakfast: 2 Slices Gluten/Wheat Free Toast with Margerine
Morning Tea: Rice Crackers
Lunch: Chicken Risotto, Muesli Bar
Afternoon Tea: Banana
Dinner: 2 Egg & Lettuce Wraps, Rice Crackers
I got on the scales this morning and......I WEIGH 10 STONE!!! 63.8kg came up on the scales. I couldn't believe it when I first got on as I felt quite bloated this morning. Can you tell I'm happy!! Can't remember the last time I saw those numbers. Just need to keep going and not jeopordise it with stupid eating (which I'm very prone to doing!).
I thought that I'd walk today instead of running just to give my legs a bit of a break. I'm going to go to the gym tomorrow morning and do a 5km run on the treadmill so that I keep the momentum up for Sunday.
Looks like there might be a shower or two on Sunday morning. I hate running in the rain. I once ran a 9 mile fun run with my girlfriend in the UK (in December = freezing cold) and it poured from start to finish. And the course was very hilly which made it even worse. And I wasn't very fit then which made it worse again!! And I still entered the following year as well (unfortunately I got food poisoning the day before the race so couldn't participate). Why do we do this? I think it's like having babies - you forget about the pain once it's over.
Thursday 26th May
Exercise: 30 Mins Cross Trainer (5.29km), 30 Mins Treadmill (5.02km)
Food Intake:
Detox Day 18
Breakfast: 2 Slices Toast with margerine
Morning Tea: Banana, Rice Crackers
Lunch: 2 Egg & Lettuce Wraps, Muesli Bar
Afternoon Tea: Muesli Bar
Dinner: 2 Chicken Burgers, 2 Slices Gluten/Wheat Free Bread
Only 3 more days of the detox. I've decided that I'm going to carry on eating this way, but without all the restrictions. So I'm going to incorporate coffee and tea back in, but only when I really want a cuppa. I normally only have one cup a day anyway, if that sometimes.
Margerine has to come back into my diet, but if I keep the bread to a minimum, then the margerine can be kept to a minimum too! I'll still have my porridge and banana each morning as that is very filling and it stops the urge to eat lots mid morning.
Hubby and I have both agreed that we haven't missed eating red meat at all, so we're going to leave that out at the moment.
And I've really missed my banana smoothies. Looking forward to downing one of those!! I know I could have had them, using soy milk, but I really didn't like the taste of soy milk, so didn't bother.
Oh yeah, the alcohol!!
Wednesday 25th May
Exercise: 1 Hr Treadmilll (10.52km)
Food Intake:
Detox Day 17
Breakfast: Porridge with Banana
Morning Tea: Banana
Lunch: Lettuce, Chicken, Boiled Egg, Muesli Bar
Afternoon Tea: Banana
Dinner: Chicken Curry with Brown Rice and Veggies
I can feel myself starting to wind down from the detox now. I'm not sure that I've enjoyed doing it, but I haven't really found it a struggle either. Just need to get through the next few days without giving in (any more than I already have).
AGR, the book is here. It's called Dr Joshi's Holistic Detox. There was a big write up in last month's Madison magazine too. If you want I can send the magazine to you as I've finished with it now.
I'm getting a bit nervous about the race on Sunday. I know that I can run 10k, but I've agreed to meet up with 2 people that I've never met in person, just online. I would hate to slow anyone down that I'm running with, but at the same time it'll be nice to run with other people for a change. I haven't had a running partner since I left the UK so it'll be a bit of a novelty for me. I'll do a report on the race when I've finished it.
Tuesday 24th May
Exercise: Weights, Situps
Food Intake:
Detox Day 16
Breakfast: Porridge with Banana
Morning Tea: Banana
Lunch: 2 Banana Sandwiches, Muesli Bar
Afternoon Tea: Box of SaKaTa Rice Snacks, Box of Lemon & Lime Shortbread Biscuits
Dinner: 2 Slices Toast, 1 Cup of Decaf Tea
I had a really late night last night, so was in two minds about getting up for the gym this morning. but the body just did it automatically without me even thinking about it. Wonders will never cease!!
I seem to have had a banana day today. Once again I think it's those sweet cravings coming out in me and the sweetest thing I've been eating is bananas!
Afternoon Tea was a bit of a write off though. Went to the supermarket at lunch time to pick up a few things to get me through till Sunday and I put the snacks in the trolley with the intention of putting them in my drawer at work and picking on them through the rest of the week. But me being the person that I am ended up eating both boxes this afternoon. God I feel sick. Serves myself right. Piggy, piggy, piggy!!
Monday 23rd May
Exercise: 45 Min Treadmill (7.88km), 15 Min Bike (1.99km)
Food Intake:
Detox Day 15
Breakfast: Porridge with Banana
Morning Tea: Banana
Lunch: 4 Slices Gluten/Wheat Free Bread with Margerine, Muesli Bar
Afternoon Tea: Muesli Bar
Dinner: Chicken Curry, Brown Rice, Rice Crackers
Today was hard on the treadmill so I stopped after 45 minutes and jumped on the bike. Just needed a bit of a change.
I seem to be relying on these muesli bars for my sweet fix. They are allowed in the detox, but maybe I'm eating a few too many. I know it says in the book that the cravings for sweet things will reduce but I say bollocks to that. They haven't gone away at all. If anything I'm wanting sweet things more than ever. I just hope that when I finish the detox I don't go on a sweet spree and gorge myself on anything sweet I can lay my hands on.
Sunday 22nd May

Food Intake:
Detox Day 14
Breakfast: 2 Slices Gluten/Wheat Free Toast with a smidge of Margerine, Cup of Tea
Lunch: Egg & Lettuce Wrap
Afternoon Tea: Muesli Bar

Another day without exercise. Not good!
My daughter hates getting out of bed on a school day, but come the weekend she's up at 7.00 and knocks on our bedroom door to let us know that it's morning. This little habit is now going to stop, which I informed her of yesterday. The weekend is the only time that I get to wake up without the alarm going off next to my ear. It's a lovely feeling waking up when your body says it's had enough sleep.
Today my body told me in no uncertain terms that it hadn't had enough sleep and there was no way that it was going out running.
Do you get those days when you just crave something so bad. Well I was craving a cup of tea. So I had one. And it was just simply divine!! It was decaffinated tea (which is what I normally drink anyway). The detox says that herbal tea is the one to drink, but I can't find any of them that I actually like the taste of, unfortunately. I am fine again now, no more cravings......for tea anyway.
My daughter had one of those yoghurts last night, that have little M&M's that you pour over the yoghurt. Well just the smell of those M&M's started me off on another craving...I begged hubby to drive down to the supermarket to buy me a packet (which he wouldn't). I even considered driving down myself (which I didn't). After about an hour of me and hubby playing a little game of "you go, no you go" I lost the craving (thank god) and ate some rice crackers instead!!
Did you notice that I didn't mention my weight yesterday. I hopped on the scales and I was happy with what it said, considering I hadn't gone for a run yesterday morning. Knowing that I would have been under 64kg if I had gone for a run did leave me a little peeved, but not enough to get me down!
Saturday 21st May
Weight: 64.2kg
Exercise: NO
Food Intake
Detox Day 13
Breakfast: Porridge with Banana
Morning Tea: Rice Crackers
Lunch: Chicken, Mash, Broccolini, Gravy, French Fries, 2 Glasses Champagne
Dinner: SaKaTa Mushi Mushi Snacks, 3 Glasses Champagne
Forgive me bloggers for I have sinned! We went over to Hawthorn to pick up my number for next week's Run to the G race and we decided to stop and have lunch. We've just bought one of those Entertainment Books, which by the way is great value for money! Anyway we looked through the book and there was a place to eat in Hawthorn which was advertised in the book so we went there (Isa Brown's if anyone's interested).
I looked at the menu and there wasn't much, if anything, that really would have fitted in with the detox. They did have a risotto but it had mushrooms in it, which aren't on the list of things I can eat, and I dislike mushrooms intensly anyway. So my next choice was chicken. I was hoping they'd have a chicken ceaser salad on the menu, but it was not to be. Anyway I did have chicken but it had mashed potatoes and gravy with it. So I was totally off plan today. We bought the french fries for our daughter but she would have never got through the amount that they brought out, so of course we had to help eat them!
The champagne.....well what can I say. I have never eaten out without having a glass of champers, apart from when I have a race the next day. That's the only time that I won't drink. And it came out automatically when asked what I wanted to drink. I didn't even think about it, the words just escaped out of my mouth....glass of champagne please! And one glass was just not enough. I'd drunk that before the meal had even arrived, so I had to order another one to drink with the meal.
Sadly once I'd had a taste I couldn't stop. We went to the supermarket on the way home to get a few things and I laid down the law with my conscience that I'd already done the damage so what harm could a couple more glasses make!!
I hang my head in shame. I'm very weak!
Friday 20th May
Exercise: 30 Mins Cross Trainer (5.62km), 30 Mins Treadmill (5.62km)
Food Intake:
Detox Day 12
Breakfast: Porridge with Banana
Morning Tea: Carrot Sticks
Lunch: Chicken Roll, Stir Fry Veggies, Rice Crackers
Afternoon Tea: Muesli Bar
Dinner: Chicken Risotto with Veggies, Rice Crackers
Do you know that I was considering having a lie in this morning instead of going to the gym, but some little voice inside my head asked me the question "why"? And I couldn't answer that question, so I got my stuff ready as usual and got up at 5.45am as usual, and off I went as usual.
I'm a person who likes routine in everything I do, and I mean everything, but I've never thought of the gym as part of my routine as I always used to think about ways of not going, and reasons I could give myself to stay in bed. It's a nice surprise to realise that going to the gym is also now part of my routine.
I nearly gave into temptation tonight. I was craving chocolate so badly that I put my hand out towards the chocolate covered cherry muesli bars that were in the cupboard, and it was only my brain screaming at me to stop it that I wrenched my hand away from the box. I was this close!
Thursday 19th May
Exercise: 1 Hr Treadmill (10.5km)
Food Intake:
Detox Day 11
Breakfast: Porridge with Banana
Morning Tea: Carrot Sticks
Lunch: Banana Sandwich, Muesli Bar
Afternoon Tea: SaKaTa Rice Snacks (Chicken Flavoured)
Dinner: Chicken Roll with Macadamia Nuts & Honey, Stir Fry Veggies
Doesn't it get monotonous running on the treadmill? I'm finding it so boring now. Really wish that I could run outside instead, but at 6am it's still pitch black and I hate running when it's dark, even though I live in a nice area. There's always that thought in the back of my head that the boogyman is going to jump out at me.
I need to figure out a way that I can make running on the treadmill fun.....any ideas?
Those SaKaTa snacks are so nice. I did say previously that I wasn't going to buy any more, but I did, so there!! And I ate the whole box of them too!
The detox book finally arrived today...hooray! It's an easy book to read too, so at least I don't have to slog through it without understanding anything. But I'm a little disappointed in the recipes section. I was hoping that there were going to be lots of them...how wrong I was. Oh well, back to my chicken and veggies!
Wednesday 18th May
Exercise: Weights, Situps
Food Intake:
Detox Day 10
Breakfast: Porridge with Banana
Morning Tea: Muesli Bar
Lunch: Salmon Sandwich, SaKaTa Plain Crackers
Dinner: Chicken, Brown Rice, Cauliflower
I so didn't feel like doing much when I got to the gym this morning, so it was a half hearted attempt at lifting weights. Didn't have any problems actually getting up and going to the gym, just wasn't really interested in doing much when I got there!!
Well the book still hasn't arrived yet. I was hoping it would be here today but no joy. Just my luck I'm going to get right through the 21 days without it and then it arrives!!
I put some Biryani seasoning on the chicken tonight and it was really yummy. Chicken Biryani was the onlly Indian food that I'd actually order if we ever went to an Indian restaurant, which was quite rare as we're not real lovers of Indian food. But this seasoning is really nice so I might be using it often!!
I've also precooked a Chicken Roll filled with Maccadamia nuts and honey tonight so that I don't have to wait for it to cook tomorrow night, I can just cut it up and reheat it. I saw it at Leonards and I'm sure that it fits in with my detox, so it'll be a nice change! I can just chuck some veggies together with it.
Right, need to get some good sleep in so that I've got the energy to do some running tomorrow!
Tuesday 17th May
Exercise: 30 Min Crosstrainer (5.18km), 25 Min Treadmill - 10 Min Power walk, 15 Min Run (3.81km)
Food Intake:
Day 9 Detox
Breakfast: Porridge with Banana
Morning Tea: SaKaTa Rice Crackers
Lunch: Kashmir Chicken, Brown Rice, Muesli Bar
Afternoon Tea: Banana
Dinner: 3 Slices Gluten Free, Wheat Free Bread, 1 Banana
I've ditched putting honey on my porridge. I really don't like the taste of honey so have decided that I don't need it. The banana is very filling mixed in with the porridge anyway so honey seemed unnecessary.
I'm a bit concerned. I got on the scales this morning and I'm back up. Not sure why either as I've been working flat out at the gym for the last week. I may have to look at my portion sizes and see if I can cut them down a bit. I'm also not sure if I should be eating so much rice. That may also be part of the problem.
And let's not forget the snacks that I've been devouring either. Not buying any more of those so maybe that'll make a difference too. I'm not going to weigh myself now until Saturday so I'll say no more until then!!
Monday 16th May
Exercise: 1 hr Treadmill (10.42km)
Food Intake:
Day 8 Detox
Breakfast: Porridge with Banana
Morning Tea: SaKaTa Mushi Mushi Snacks
Lunch: Chicken Risotto with Veggies, Muesli Bar
Afternoon Tea: Banana
Dinner: Kashmir Chicken, Brown Rice
Can you see a pattern forming with my food.....chicken, chicken, chicken!! Hope that book arrives soon!
I'm now starting to up the speed on the treadmill when I run. Started off at 10kph but am now able to run constantly at 10.5kph for at least 30 minutes without the urge (or need) to slow down. Then I try and vary it a bit by upping the speed every minute till I get to 11kph, then slowing back down to 10.5kph for 5 minutes. Then I bring it down to 10.2kph but up the gradient, so every minute it goes up another 0.5 gradient. By that time I'm pretty wrecked so I bring the gradient down to 0 and this feels like I'm running downhill so I up the speed again for the last 5 minutes or so. It's hard work but feels like I've really worked my body hard when I've finished.
Got home tonight and went through my cookbooks to see if there was something different that I could cook. I adapted a recipe that used Lamb and made a lovely chicken curry, which included nothing that I wasn't allowed to eat. Tasted excellent too if I do say so myself!!
Sunday 15th May
Exercise: NO
Food Intake:
Day 7 Detox
Breakfast: Porridge with Banana
Morning Tea: Muesli Bar
Lunch: Banana sandwich on Gluten & Wheat Free Bread
Dinner: Chicken, Brown Rice, Cauliflower, Broccoli
So much for my run today. My daughter decided that BBQ food wasn't very nice so proceeded to puke it all back up throughout the night. Needless to say we didn't get much sleep last night, what with cleaning the carpet in our bedroom where she puked the first time, to cleaning her bed up later in the night where she missed the bucket!! Poor little thing. She's still not well and doesn't want to eat anything at the moment as she's scared it's all going to come back up again.
I have mowed the lawn and done some weeding and sweeping today, so I suppose that counts for something. Really wanted to do the run though as this would have taken me below 64kg, but I just didn't have the energy. I'll just have to make sure that tomorrow's run on the treadmill is a good one!
I have to agree with everyone, this detox really is agreeing with me. Unfortunately this probably highlights the fact that I haven't been eating very well before I started as I'm not doing any more exercise, but the weight is falling off. Hope it continues!
I've also found that I'm not nearly as hungry as I've been previously. Can't seem to get through a full bowl of porridge any more. And I don't really feel the urge to nibble throughout the day either, so it's definitely having a good effect on my eating habits if nothng else!
Saturday 14th May
Weight: 64.0
Exercise: 45 Min Run (Outside) (8km)
Food Intake:
Day 6 Detox
Breakfast: Gluten & Wheat Free Rice Flakes with Banana & Soy Milk
Lunch: 1 Corn Crispbread
Dinner: Chicken, Broccoli & Cauliflower, Brown Rice
Snack: 1/2 Bag Natural Toasted Gluten Free CornChips
I can't believe I've lost a kilo in 5 days. I was 65kg when I started this detox on Monday morning. This is the lowest weight I've been for ages. I did weigh myself after my run, but I always weigh myself after exercise anyway.
I ran from home this morning to the local pool where my daughter has her swimming lessons. Hubby drove there with daughter and I met them there. It was a beautiful day for a run, quite cool but the sun was shining. I even ran all the way up Hawthory Road, which is like a very long steep hill (in my view anyway!!). And because I ran to the pool so quickly I had to do another circuit around the block to make up the 45 minutes, and in doing so had to run the top half of the hill again!! I'm going to drive the distance tomorrow to see how far it is.
And I'm going to do my long run tomorrow too.
Corn Chips.....won't buy them again. Way too moorish for me. Taste just like normal corn chips...say no more!!
Friday 13th May
Exercise: NO
Food Intake:
Detox Day 5
Breakfast: Porridge with Banana & Honey, Glass warm lemon water
Morning Tea: Banana
Lunch: Chicken Fried Rice, Muesli Bar
Afternoon Tea: Sakata Mushi Mushi Rice snacks
Dinner: Scrambled Eggs on 2 Slices Bread, 3 Choc Biscuits
The body said no to exercise this morning when the alarm went off and for once I listened to what it said even though the mind was still willing to get up and get down to the gym.
And today at work we had a BBQ for somebody who was leaving, so I sat there and ate my fried rice and muesli bar while everyone else thoroughly enjoyed their sausages and steak and supped on a couple of bevvies. Another hurdle down. I can now say that I have some willpower when it comes to food and drink. And it really did take all of that willpower to say no to the alcohol. Was a perfect day for it. Sitting outside in the sun with lovely people, having a laugh. Enough said.
Next week I've decided to be alot stricter with the food intake. No more snacks and sweet things, just plain food and lots of water....hang on, what am I saying!!! Don't know if I'm going to survive it but I've decided that if that's what it takes, then that's what I've got to do! Wish me luck 'cos I'm really gonna need it!
Thursday 12th May
Exercise: Weights, Situps, 15 Min Treadmill (2.6km)
Food Intake:
Detox Day 4
Breakfast: Porridge with Banana & Honey, Glass of warm water with lemon
Morning Tea:Banana
Lunch: Chicken Fried Rice with Veggies (see Day 1), 2 Slices Bread with W/W Marg, Muesli Bar
Dinner: Salmon, Lettuce, 2 Boiled Eggs, 1 Choc Biscuit, 1 Shortbread
I feel like I've overeaten today. I reckon it was the bread that did it. I've decided not to eat any more bread, and once the biscuits have gone I won't be buying any more. They seem to be my downfall, whether I'm detoxing or not
Have found that I'm sleeping really well at the moment, so whether this is part of the detox I'm not sure.
I went and had a facial tonight. I've never had one before, can you believe that! It was very relaxing too, but the girlie who did it was very unprofessional, in my opinion. To start with she didn't even take my makeup off before she started, she managed to get seaweed mask stuff on my lips and then dumped some gel stuff in my hair
And her main concern didn't seem to be about my face, but about the triangle inbetween my boobs. She reckons I've got massive skin damage there from the sun, which I totally agree with, but she was supposed to be doing the face, not the boobs
I normally get my bikini line and eyebrows done at this place too, but the same girlie did them for me last time and she was really crap. I now have a totally different shape to my eyebrows, which I hadn't asked her to do, and didn't want. I was very happy with my eyebrows. And her bikini wax leaves alot to be desired. When I checked there were still hairs there and the line wasn't even straight.
So it looks like I've got to find a new place to go. It's kind of like finding a new hairdresser isn't it!! The things we do for vanity!
Wednesday 11th May
Exercise: 30 Mins Cross Trainer (5.17km), 15 Mins Row (3.1km), Situps
Food Intake:
Day 3 Detox
Breakfast: Porridge with banana & honey, glass warm water with lemon
Morning Tea: Carrot Sticks
Lunch: same as dinner yesterday, 2 slices Gluten & Wheat free bread, muesli bar
Afternoon Tea: Banana
Dinner: Chicken, Brown Rice, 6 Lemon & Lime Shortbreads (they were tiny!)
Okay I'm getting a bit bored with the carrot sticks now. And I must find the recipe for the vegetable soup that's mentioned in the magazine that the detox is in.
Yep, vegie soup with bread dunked in it sounds quite yummy!
I cheated a little bit with the bread. I spread the weeniest amount of W/W margerine on it so that I could eat it without it lodging in my throat. Is that bad? Day 3 and I'm already cheating!
And I went shopping tonight and specifically looked for dessert foods to eat. So I came home with some shortbread biscuits and some chocolate biscuits that are both wheat and gluten free. Not sure if this is allowed or not, but I've bought them anyway.
I'm still waiting for the book that I ordered from Amazon.co.uk. It's been despatched so it should be here some time next week. Maybe then I'll actually have a proper idea of what I'm supposed to be doing on this detox, and maybe I'll get some new ideas for food that I can eat.
I'm going to make some Chicken soup this weekend. Found a couple of recipes on the internet that look like they'll fit in nicely with the detox. Just hope that they taste nice!
Now for the good bit, I resisted cakes today. At work we have a Morning Tea once every couple of months where the managers do a big pep talk and let everyone know what's happening in the company. And there were trays and trays of cakes sitting there. Those Vanilla Slices looked just divine, as did the apple cakes. But I brought my carrot sticks with me and sat there chomping on those while everyone else scoffed cake!

Well another day down, 19 more to go!!
Think I need to be looking in some cook books for different ways to cook vegetables. I still haven't found it too difficult to stick to this detox, but I'm definitely feeling a little anxious about the weekend, as that's the time I normally splurge and eat lots of junky food and drink lots of alcohol!
Might even have a slice of the wheat & gluten free bread tomorrow....something exciting to look forward to!!
Monday 9th May

Day 1 Detox

Morning Tea:Carrot Sticks
Lunch: Lettuce, Salmon, Boiled Egg, Banana
Afternoon Tea: Muesli Bar
Dinner: Chicken Fried Rice with Peas, Broccoli, Carrots, Cauliflower, Green Beans, Egg
So that was Day 1. Not too bad considering. I didn't feel like I was actually doing anything different from my normal food intake apart from the lemon water in the morning.
If it's going to be like this every day, then 3 weeks of it might not be too bad, maybe a little bit boring, but not too bad. I'm going to have to think up lots of new recipes for chicken and vegetables!
I'm quite lucky that I didn't get a headache, possibly because I don't drink coffee or tea very often, so didn't suffer any caffeine withdrawl symptoms. Bring on Day 2!

Well I've just had my last supper (chocolate & champagne) and I'm now ready to start the detox tomorrow. I'm up for it and hopefully the rest of me will follow too!
Didn't do any exercise today, have made it my rest day. But I did do some housework so I can at least think that I've done something!

That was a great run this morning. I felt great and the hills that I ran up, although they wern't big ones, really didn't kill me like they have in the past. You know sometimes when you run but you forget that you're running as it feels really easy, well that was how I felt. What a great feeling. Can you tell I feel good!!
And will you check out my weight today! Yes, yes, yes, yes.....okay I did weigh myself after the run, and I did weigh a bit more than this before the run, but I don't care, I'm under 65kg!!
And because I've lost weight, in my mind it's okay to eat the dinner that I've just eaten and the alcohol that I've just consumed although at the back of my mind I'm thinking that if I hadn't eaten or drunk that, would I have been better off....probably!!
Looking forward to the detox so that there's no excuses to eat or drink what I'm not supposed to!

I was doing really well on the treadmill this morning until something happened to my MP3 player. No idea what it was, but there was no music coming out of the headphones, and even though I jiggled around with it for a couple of seconds, nothing happened.
I can't run without music in my ears. I've tried it a couple of times and it just doesn't work for me. Really need a good beat to keep my own rythmn going when I'm running. So I had to stop running and jump on the bike instead.
And of course once I'd got on the bike and had another fiddle with the MP3 player it started working didn't it!! But it was only coming out of one headphone, so that might be the problem.
Will get hubby to have a look tonight to see if the headphones are stuffed.
Might have to go and buy some more tomorrow. Will make a great Mother's Day gift from him to me!!
I've decided not to run the Mothers Day run. Mainly because it's so early in the morning (8.20am) but also because of the entry fee ($27). So I'm going to go out on a long run tomorrow and have Sunday off, as it is Mothers Day and I know my daughter wants to bring me breakfast in bed (what a sweetie!!) and I just couldn't disappoint her.
Thursday 5th May
Exercise: Weights, Situps, 10 Mins Cross Trainer (1.56km)
Food Intake:
Breakfast: Bowl of Porridge with Golden Syrup
Morning Tea: Satsuma
Lunch: Chicken, Green Salad, Coleslaw, Carrot, 1 Large White Bread Roll
Dinner: Chicken, Veggies
Not much to say today. Didn't really enjoy the weight session but managed to get through it. Think I would rather have run on the treadmill, but my legs were not having any of it, so just jumped on the cross trainer to get a sweat up.
I'm now starting to gear up for my detox. Will make Monday the start day. Am actually feeling a bit excited about it. I think it's the thought of losing 5kg in 3 weeks!! Almost too hard to actually comprehend that this might happen.
My biggest fear is that I'm not going to be able to get through the 3 weeks without giving into something bad.
Wednesday 4th April
Exercise: 1 Hr Treadmill (10km)
Food Intake:
Breakfast: Porridge with Golden Syrup
Morning Tea: 1 Plum
Lunch: Ham & Low Fat Cheese White Roll, Low Fat Choc Mousse
Afternoon Tea: Banana
Dinner: Chicken, Green Salad, Coleslaw, Carrot, Beetroot, 1 Large White Roll with W/W Margerine, 2 JD & Diet Coke
I upped the speed on the treadmill today as I was determined to run 10km in an hour. And I was determined to do it on an incline too.
As you can probably imagine, the legs are a bit tender now.
I got on the scales this morning and I've lost the 2kg that I put on over the weekend thank god. Just need to get down under that 65kg. I'm going to do weights tomorrow so my legs can have a break and run on Friday. Hopefully if I eat well that should put me under 65kg.
That will then give me a starting point for my detox.
Tuesday 3rd May
Exercise: 1 Hr Treadmill - 9.78km
Food Intake:
Breakfast: Porridge with Golden Syrup
Morning Tea: Satsuma
Lunch: Ham & Low Fat Cheese White Roll, Low Fat Orange Sorbert Fruche, Mini Bag Cheese & Bacon Balls
Afternoon Tea: 1 Plum
Dinner: Pork Korma with Brown Rice
Running was great today. Had loads of energy so it wasn't too hard. The knee seems to have healed itself too. Even the food intake was okay, just not enough veggies that's all.
And I went food shopping tonight and wasn't even tempted to buy anything bad, not even Mentos (which I would have taken to work with me and scoffed!).
I'm seriously considering the 21 day detox which is in this month's Madison magazine . It's not as yukky as a normal detox and you can eat some normal food too i.e. chicken, turkey, brown rice, porridge, bananas.
As this pretty much resembles what I eat (apart from all the junk food!!) I thought that it might be worth trying.
My biggest worry is that there is no alcohol......3 weeks without alcohol - I'm struggling already with that concept, but if I stick to the plan then it suggests that I could lose 5kg, which is my ultimate goal anyway, so if I put it into perspective, what do I want more???
Of course it's the weight loss, why would I even consider the alcohol! So I'm either going to start on Saturday or Monday, haven't decided yet.
I need to sit down and work out my meals and what I need to buy for it. Most of the food has to be organic and wheat and gluten free, so that'll be a first for me! I also never venture down the asle with all that stuff in it either, so shopping may be fun!
Still haven't decided if I'm going to do the Mothers Day run on Sunday. I'll probably decide on Saturday (nothing like a last minute decision!!)
Monday 2nd May
Exercise: Weights, Situps, Cross Trainer - 10 Mins (1.68km)
Food Intake:
Breakfast: Porridge wtih Golden Syrup
Morning Tea: 2 Large Plums
Lunch: Tuna Mayo, Green Salad, Cous Cous, Low Fat Banana Muesli Bar
Dinner: Grilled Chicken Breas, Mashed Potato, Broccoli & Cauliflower
I've hurt my knee. I think I twisted it the wrong way while I was lugging a sofa bed on to the nature strip for the hard rubbish collection. Was going down the stairs and just seemed to turn the knee and then I got this horrible pain, which is still with me!
I really wanted to do a run on the treadmill this morning but my thoughts were that I probably shouldn't. So I did some weights instead. And I lifted heavy weights as I want to feel pain in my muscles, like I've really worked them.
I got on the scales this morning and since Friday morning I've put on 2kg. Can you believe it...2kg. Don't think that pasta and chinese are good for my weight loss.
Sunday 1st May
Exercise: NO
Food Intake:
Breakfast: 4 Slices Grain toast with W/W Margerine & Lemon Spread
Lunch: Coleslaw, Tuna Mayo & Cous Cous, Fun Size Pkt S&V Chips
Afternoon Tea: 2 Large Plums
Dinner: Small Bowl of Chicken & Sweetcorn Soup, 2 Slices Grain toast with W/W Margerine
Look, no alcohol!! The only reason is because I couldn't be bothered to go up to the shops and buy either Coke for the JD or a bottle or champers. Sometimes I just get so lazy.
I really wanted to do lots of stuff around the house today but instead I sat on the PC until 11.30 and then watched a bit of the Miss USA pageant on TV (very disheartening to watch all the perfect people!!). When I finally got into the swing of things my sister and her lot showed up.
I didn't even run today. Was going to go and do my long run, but the longer I sat on the PC, the less I wanted to run! I've got to get out of this lazy weekend feeling. Even if I just do something on one of the days I can then use the other as my rest day.
